July 20, 2021 | How my Career Path Led Me to Wellbox: Cole Naldzin

This article is part of a blog series highlighting our incredible leadership team, their careers, and why they chose to work at Wellbox. Without their dedication and passion for helping chronically ill people live healthier, longer lives, we would not be where we are today.

At Wellbox, our solutions are purpose-built for engagement. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to achieve the results we do. Whether we’re interacting with providers or patients, we strive to create positive, tailored experiences that meet and exceed their needs. This way, we can continue to make a positive impact on chronic illness in America.

At the forefront of several teams that consistently support our goal of driving engagement is Cole Naldzin, Senior Director of Engagement. Cole began her career at Wellbox as the Director of Marketing more than three years ago and has grown to become an exceptional asset to the team. Learn how her career path led her to Wellbox and what it means to her to provide value to our patients, providers, and the healthcare industry as a whole.

As we celebrate Wellbox’s five-year anniversary, we reached out to our leadership team to share our history and the progress we’ve made.

What does it mean to you to lead the engagement teams?

Engagement has always been something that has interested me. What engages people to participate in something and why? How do you build products and services that provide value and that people WANT to engage with? This is at the heart of everything we do, and it drives the development of our teams’ strategy.

At Wellbox specifically, it crosses the line from interest to passion because I know that for every patient we engage, we can help improve their quality of life in a real way. The ability to see and measure the clinical impact we have motivates and inspires me daily.

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?

One of the most important aspects of my position is making sure the customer experience and journey is positive. I also love working with my teams to solve the challenges we face in unique ways.

Identifying opportunities for improvement, brainstorming, and implementing new processes and workflows is fun and exciting. Then, seeing those changes have a positive impact on our abilities to succeed is immensely rewarding.

When working for start-ups, I have always loved the impact you can personally have on the direction of the company.

What attracted you to healthcare?

Personally, I always want to go to a job where I feel like I am making a difference every day. With healthcare, we have a real opportunity to impact both individuals and populations.

Most of us have seen first-hand the effects of chronic illness on people we care about. They can be from the quality of life to financial and emotional standpoints; the impact is felt by them and those who care for them.

It’s important to me to help those who are impacted with healthcare challenges today and to be part of a solution. This way, my children don’t have to deal with the same challenges in 30 years.

To me, working in healthcare technology means that I can contribute to a better tomorrow – in my own little way.

Can you share how former positions were vital to you earning your current position?

Prior to joining Wellbox, I was a Principal at Zer0 to 5ive, a Philadelphia-based marketing agency. Over the course of five years, I had the opportunity to work with more than 50 technology companies predominantly within the fintech, edtech and healthcare spaces. With these clients, I primarily built and executed strategies to bring new companies to market, expand territory or service offerings (including new product launches), and increase lead generation. Working with companies to solve their individual challenges and accomplish their unique goals gave me a wide range of knowledge and a keen eye for problem-solving. It also taught me a great deal about effective project management, managing cross-functional teams, and building strategies that achieve the business goals of the leadership team. I enjoyed my time working at Zer0 to 5ive but ultimately left to relocate my family to Florida.

Prior to working at Zer0 to 5ive, I was the Director of Marketing at an operations management consultancy headquartered out of London. I managed sector marketing teams located all over the world whose goal was to develop industry-specific thought leadership and lead generation programs. I also started and led a new sector for the company focused on Private Equity and, working closely with the sales team, grew that business by 300% year-over-year. Among other things, this position taught me the importance of process and subject matter expertise. As a result, I believe strongly in a consultative approach that embraces helping people to solve their problems instead of trying to sell them on your solution.

All the roles I have had in my career have also been heavily grounded in research and data – which I think is imperative in the healthcare space. As we always say at Wellbox, “the data tells the story.”

Why does Wellbox’s mission resonate with you?

I have always focused on living a healthy lifestyle, so it resonates with me on a personal level in terms of the achievement of my own wellness goals. Beyond that, I have been extremely lucky to have been exposed to the knowledge and opportunities to make good decisions regarding my own health. I want everyone to have that same level of access regardless of where they live, how much money they make and how easy it is for them to access care.

I strongly believe that easy access to affordable healthcare is an important global imperative. I want to do what I can to ensure we can achieve that in my lifetime.

We’re grateful Cole’s career led her to Wellbox because her incredible efforts have transformed our company and its engagement for the better. Without her passion to interact with people and support them in their health, we wouldn’t be able to see as many positive results as we do. Thank you for everything you do, Cole!
